Perambulations I is a sonic psychogeographic exploration of some of the stone circles and other sacred spaces of the Peak District National Park. Using moss tones and field recordings within a modular synth setting John gives voice to The Nine Ladies of Stanton Moor, Doll Tor and The Seven Stones of Hordron and more.

about

The locations that inspire the tracks for Perambulations I are places that have a sense of mystery and timelessness. There are the stone circles of Nine Ladies on Stanton Moor in the Peak District and the nearby Doll Tor. There is a track inspired by Lud’s Church, also in the Peak District and the evocative and mysterious Seven Stones of Hordron on Hordron Moor.
In each track, I have used ‘moss tones’. These moss tones are motifs, sounds, textures, strategies, field recordings, and, to some extent bind the tracks together. The sounds of all the tracks will hopefully convey the sense of mystery; the sense of story; and the sense of time.
For all of the tracks on Perambulations I, I hope they encourage people to visit the places both in their imaginations and for real.
